Privacy policy

Background.ai removes backgrounds from images. We built it to collect as little as possible: there is no advertising and there are no third-party tracking scripts. This page explains what we do handle and why.

Images you upload

• Your image and the result we create are stored on our own servers only so we can show and deliver your result.
• Images uploaded without an account, and their results, are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
• Images saved to your account are kept until you delete them from your dashboard.
• We remove metadata such as EXIF camera details and GPS location from every upload before processing.
• We do not sell or share your images, and we do not use them to train AI models.
• Images uploaded without an account are only available through a private link with a random identifier. Anyone you share that link with can see the image until it is deleted. Images saved to an account can only be opened by that account.

Your account

To download results you create an account with your email address. We store your email address, your password if you choose to set one (only as a secure one-way hash, never the password itself), your plan and the images you save. We use your email address to send login links and important messages about your account. We do not send marketing emails without your permission.

Technical data

Like every website, our servers receive technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Our hosting provider keeps these server logs for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors.

Cookies and analytics

Background.ai does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not load third-party analytics. When you log in, we set one strictly necessary cookie that keeps you logged in. Our content delivery and security provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary cookie to protect the site from abuse.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare to deliver the site quickly and securely, a hosting provider to run our servers, and Mailgun to send login emails. They process data only to provide those services to us. Your images are processed on our own servers and are not sent to any outside AI service.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you. If you have an account, you can delete your saved images from your dashboard at any time, and you can contact us to close your account and delete its data. If you don’t have an account, uploads are deleted after 24 hours and we hold no personal data beyond short-lived server logs.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, for example when paid plans launch, we will update this page and the date above.
